STUDENT COUNCIL
Reserve Officer Schools’ Student Council is made up of officer students of the Army Reserve Officer Course that is held twice a year.
The student Council answers to tasks determined by the Finnish Defence Forces to Conscript Committees. Its activity is however larger than other garrisons’ Conscript Committees.
Reserve Officer School’s Student Council’s tasks are:
- improve its members’ and school staff’s relations
- create feelings of group spirit among its members
- promote its members’ hobby activities
- take care of its members’ comfort
- improve its members’ social environment
- design and purchase course products
The highest authority of the Student Council is held by representatives elected by its members, but in practice activity is led by a board that holds executive power. Under the board, work is done by departments led by their respective chairmen, who are in charge of their own sector’s activities’ planning and executing.
Student Council’s activity is led by the Curator, who belongs to staff, and a conscript leader – the Student Council Officer Cadet. The Student Council Cadet is chosen from the board of the previous course to guide the next board, and to improve Student Council work. The Student Council’s Support Society also supports the activity with its employees.
The Student Council has its own office – the so called Chicken Coop, in which the board and departments work, mainly in the evenings. The Student Council’s duty officer works in the office during the day, and does tasks related to the activity of the Student Council.
